It is unclear whether or not the file is free, as it is definitely not made in 2017 and I couldn't find a source with a date. Spinixster (talk) 01:41, 9 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Quickly found in the same category. This can also be found via Google. See addition.

Collages need source and license for every used image. In addition, there is no freedom of panorama in Russia for sculptures and the collage violates sculptor's copyright. Taivo (talk) 13:03, 9 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It was formerly a photo of one of the monuments in the city until a user going by Павел8887 overwrote it with this collage comprised of various non-free photos.  Keep, but revert it back to the original monument photo first. Soglasun (talk) 15:26, 9 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It cannot be kept, because the original photo violates sculptor's copyright as well. Taivo (talk) 10:28, 10 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Per COM:Lebanon 2D art is protected with copyright 50 years from publication. Depicted person died in 1986 and the art was published not much earlier. In addition, USA demands 95 years from publication. The art can be restored in 2082 (95+1 years from depicted person's death). Maybe sooner, if we know publication year. File:Banque nationale d'Algérie (BNA), Logo.svg[edit]

A cropped and higher quality version (no jagged lines) exists here File:Bna-logo-full.svg, it is also not an own work and the source/author needs to be credited. Sizito (talk) 13:46, 9 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi @Sizito
I hope you are doing well.
Firstly, it seems that you created the copied version after mine was already created, and then you proceeded to nominate mine for deletion. Instead of doing that, why didn't you simply ask to overwrite the file?
The category for the bank didn't exist until I created it. Regarding the credits, it is my own work as I have recreated over 600 logos, if not more, some are listed here, if you check my contributions, you'll see that I try to adjust the sources when I can because I don't always obtain the logo directly from the website. I try to trace back to where I initially found them. It would have been better if you had notified me before the nomination. Because I don't understand your attitude of creating a copy and then nominating the original one for deletion.

Hi @Abzeronow, ⁣
Could you please check the case of this file? Thank you.
Regards Riad Salih (talk) 14:20, 9 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hello @Riad Salih, I'm doing well thank you for asking, I hope you are too.
Please understand that I have no ill intent or personal gain here, I really appreciate all the work you do creating logos and maintaining Wikipedia articles, and hope you continue. I'd like to help with this effort and achieve the best results possible.
I tried to update the file itself but was met with a message prohibiting overwriting the file, which is why I couldn't.
Another reason is that according to the Wikimedia rules Commons:Credit line#Courtesy credit lines, when uploading logos under PD-textlogo the name of the original author and a source must be mentioned (which is what I did in the logo I uploaded last night, using that very source). You cannot credit yourself with rendering a logo that someone else made, it does not fall under the definition of "Own work". So for fear that this logo would eventually get deleted for breaking the rules, I elected to upload a new one instead. Another thing I noticed is that a lot of your logos are restricted and can't be used outside of French Wikipedia, which is another thing I took into consideration there.
As for why I requested the deletion of this file, I felt like there was no point in having two of them, ideally I could have just updated yours, but that wasn't possible, it's nothing personal.
Accept my apology if this upset you, sincerely. Sizito (talk) 14:35, 9 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hi back @Sizito, of course, we should add credits, which I always do. Yesterday, it was late when I uploaded the file just before going to sleep. I intended to adjust the credits and translations later, you could have simply edited the file and added the source instead of nominating it for Deletion, or requested to overwrite the file here.
Regards. Riad Salih (talk) 15:09, 9 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hello @Riad Salih, you are right that there are other ways to do this, although deleting a superseded file when a better quality one is available is also normal Wikimedia practice and shouldn't be taken as a malicious act.
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_policy#Redundant/bad_quality
I'm okay with you updating your file with the SVG from my file which I got directly from the bank's website (that's why it's high quality), and credit the bank of course (rendering a work into a vector doesn't make you the author, I must insist). I can request to delete my file as a duplicate when that happens, to me it doesn't matter who uploads it as long as we're using the best version available.
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/0/09/Bna-logo-full.svg/2560px-Bna-logo-full.svg.png
Sorry for the trouble. Cheers. Sizito (talk) 16:01, 9 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I have a suggestion, you can use my file to update your logo since I can't do it, and also update the source and author, and I'll withdraw this request for deletion and request to delete my file instead, how about this? Sizito (talk) 14:43, 9 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Photograph contains a watermark for a website https://suzukiproduction.com/ by a commercial film director/photographer. This is the only one from this uploader that contains this. I have noticed there are a few other files from this uploader that contain a different name in the metadata from the name on the watermark. I feel like this would need VRT confirmation. I guess the Nordic Council has been inaccurate in their licencing in this case. Erik F (talk) 09:20, 10 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Efloean Knudw is of the same opinion: https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File%3ANicolai_Wammen%2C_pressefoto.jpg&diff=839831416&oldid=839601619 . Hjart (talk) 18:26, 10 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Hjart @KnudW I'll have to clarify that the Nordic Council has altered its previous free licences. At the time I uploaded this image, the Nordic Council had (mistakenly) licenced it as free, given that the Nordic Council and the photographer was attributed. (See also Template:Nordic Council. I can't explain why that licence tag isn't used in this particular case.) Erik F (talk) 22:51, 10 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

This file was initially tagged by Arrow303 as Copyvio (Copyvio) and the most recent rationale was: COM:DW of non-free original work (licensed CC-BY-NC-ND as per https://www.araldicacivica.it/info/disclaimer/). This file should be replaced everywhere with File:Coat of arms of Asti.svg.|source=https://www.araldicacivica.it/comune/asti/
Converted to regular DR to alow for discussion, as the alleged source (https://www.araldicacivica.it/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Asti.jpg) shows a quite different image (look at the details) and is from 2024, whereas our upload is from 2016. -- Túrelio (talk) 21:29, 9 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi @Túrelio, as you can see at this image on itwiki (that actually must be deleted from itwiki because it violates the local it:WP:EDP policy) that design taken by araldicacivica.it existes from 2009. This image it's clearly not identical to the source, but it was used as the material basis for the conversion to SVG (especially the palm branches and the ribbon). Derivative works are prohibited by the CC-ND license, because of this the palm branches have been already deleted for Copyvio. Arrow303 (talk) 21:54, 9 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I copied the photo, with remark to its source from the following Dutch website: https://resources.huygens.knaw.nl/vrouwenlexicon/lemmata/data/Hofmans
This is a story about Greet Hofmans, the photo in the article is taken in 1956, by ANP (Nationaal Archief / Spaarnestad Photo) and is listed in the Dutch national Archive.
I'am not sure if there is still a copyrigtht on this photo, 68 years later, if yes you can delete the picture from Wikicommons. My excuse if I made a mistake, kind regards Mschapink (talk) 18:55, 10 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
