Ambiguous title, and the category is full of inappropriate content. Rename to Category:Electronic displays, Category:Display screens, Category:Display devices or something else that gives more context. Themightyquill (talk) 15:32, 17 December 2019 (UTC)

Since the category description specifically mentions screens, and since Category:Screens is also ambiguous, I'd lean towards Category:Display screens. - Themightyquill (talk) 15:35, 17 December 2019 (UTC)

I agree that this and several related categories seem ill-defined and it is very unclear how exactly they relate to each other, what belongs in what category, and what overlaps exist (I suspect many). I believe that Category:Displays, Category:Screens, Category:Video monitors, Category:Device monitors, Category:Computer monitors, Category:Computer screens and Category:Computer displays at a minimum should be considered as a whole and a schema for them developed comprehensively. I've disambiguated Category:Screens with Category:Display screens but that still only gets us part of the way there. Given that the wikidata description is "output device for presentation of information in visual form", I think Category:Display devices is the way to go with this. -- Themightyquill (talk) 23:11, 11 December 2021 (UTC)

@Themightyquill, Ubcule, and Joshbaumgartner: I have proposed the following category scheme to fix the problem:

• Display devices (output device for presentation of visual information)
  • Computer displays (if the device is a part of a computer, standalone or embedded)
    • Computer monitors (for standalone computer displays)
    • Computer screens (for the presentation of visual information in a computer display, not the device itself)
  • Display screens (for the presentation of visual information in a display device, not the device itself)
    • Computer screens (if the visual information is presented in a computer monitor or a laptop a computer display)
  • Monitors (larger output device for presentation of visual information)
    • Computer monitors (if the monitor is a part of a computer)
      • Computer screens (for the presentation of visual information in a computer monitor or a laptop, not the device itself)
    • Video monitors (if the visual information is in the form of a video and not an image)

Device monitors will be merged to Monitors and Computer displays will be merged to Computer screens. I'll implement the proposal within seven days. Sbb1413 (he) (talk • contribs) 11:36, 30 September 2023 (UTC)

@Themightyquill: The screens of smartphones and laptops are not separate devices. A display screen is always a part of a device. I've slightly modified the proposed definition of Computer screens for laptop screens. Sbb1413 (he) (talk • contribs) 13:21, 30 September 2023 (UTC)

Screenshots was already a subcat of Computer screens, which I have changed to Display screens since there are screenshots of smartphone screens. Both BootScreen.jpg and 86-DOS running assembler and HEX2BIN (screenshot).png belong to Computer screens, the latter may belong to the more specific Computer screenshots. 20020811203148 - NOI 2002.jpg does not belong to Computer screens since the image shows the entire computer monitor instead of just the screen belongs to both Computer screens and Computer monitors.
