User talk[edit]
Hi. I deleted the redundant Ariane image as requested. BTW, for speedy deletions you can tag images with delete -- Chris 73 03:14, 12 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Thanks! --Duffman 03:18, 12 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Also: could you add copyright tags to the images you uploaded? For now I have tagged your image as "Unknown". If there are no tags, the image may have to be deleted. One image would be Image:Kiribati location map.png. Thanks -- Chris 73 03:21, 12 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- That image was found on en:Category:Country locator maps, which has all country location maps. Most of the maps there have been tagged as GNU Free Documentation License. I don't know if this exact image is an exception. I cannot confirm 100 percent what the copyright is. Which other images have not been tagged? --Duffman 03:35, 12 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- See Category:Unknown for the list of images with unknown copyright status. Not sure which ones are from you. I also asked the creator of en:Image:LocationKiribati.png for the tag. BTW, do you know that you can create interwiki links by adding en:Image:LocationKiribati.png to Image:Kiribati location map.png? -- Chris 73
- I couldn't see any other images that I hadn't tagged. How does that interwiki linking work exactly? --Duffman 04:10, 12 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- For interwiki links, you link the image/article/category/whatever as you would in the local wiki, except you add the language of the wiki to the front. For example, you have already added interwiki links to your homepage as en:User:Duffman no:Bruker:Duffman. Same for images, which would be e.g. en:Image:ImageName.jpg, where ImageName.jpg is the name of the image on the english wiki. -- Chris 73 05:39, 12 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Image:US Air Force F-117 Nighthawk.jpg[edit]
You uploaded this image but I uploaded this same image (see Lockheed Martin F-117 Night Hawk). When you upload, can you verify the image doesn't exist (see the planes' articles in Category:Military planes), thanks.
I'm distressed for my bad english.--Dav 59 09:40, 31 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- The image I uploaded has a much higher resolution. So don't delete it. --Duffman 20:53, 3 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Hello Duffman, in November 2004 you uploaded the images Red_Cross.png, Red_Crescent.png, Red_Star_of_David.png and Red_Diamond.png. Can you check whether the source from which they come from also has a similar picture of the Red Lion and red Sun, the third recognized protection symbol of the Geneva Conventions? Image Tagging Image:The Pentagon US Department of Defense building.jpg[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:The Pentagon US Department of Defense building.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use GFDL-self to release it under the GFDL or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you.
Cnyborg 12:16, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

Tip: Categorizing images[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 11:45, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

Please help replace this outdated license[edit]
Hello!
Thank you for donating images to the Wikimedia Commons. You have uploaded some images in the past with the license PD. While this was a license acceptable in the early days of Wikimedia, since January 2006, this license has been deprecated and since October 2008 no new uploads with this license was allowed.
The license on older images should be replaced with a better and more specific license/permissions and you can help by checking the images and adding PD-self if you are the author or one of the other templates that you can see in the template on the image page.
Thank you for your help. If you need help feel free to ask at Commons talk:Licensing or contact User:Zscout370.

Your account will be renamed[edit]
Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Duffman. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Duffman~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
Community Liaison, Wikimedia Foundation
