Copyright Tags[edit]
Hi. Could you add copyright tags to the images you uploaded? For now I have tagged your image as "Unknown". If there are no tags, the image may have to be deleted. Thanks -- Chris 73 21:37, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Suriname not equal to Netherland Guiana[edit]
Hi Patrik,
you have moved Netherland Guiana to Suriname. That is not correct because Netherland Guiana is a historical country, 1815 devided into Suriname and Guayana. --Raymond de 09:05, 14 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- I see. Let us move it then to Netherlands Guiana (1667-1815) (with an s), because "Netherlands Guiana" is also used for Suriname only, before independence.--Patrick 09:43, 14 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Ok, that sounds good. --Raymond de 09:58, 14 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Odd categories[edit]
Why have you created the categories Category:Nudity and Category:People with little clothing? They seem wholley arbitrary and inane - from photographs to works of art!? Eventually we will have hundreds/thousands of works of art featuring nudity - why not create categories such as Category:People with black skirts? --Oldak Quill 13:26, 15 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- On the English Wikipedia there was already w:Category:Images containing nudity. Categories are useful when people are interested in images with a particular property. An image can be in various categories. Images that share a particular property may be very different in other regards, I do not think that is a problem, on the contrary.--Patrick 13:43, 15 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- Also on Commons there were already Category:Nude women and Category:Nude men (I combined them, the first was later reinstalled by somebody else) and Category:Sex.--Patrick 14:22, 15 Feb 2005 (UTC)
world map[edit]
Im not sure how the grey line problem could be fixed? Is it really that much of an issue with Microsoft paint?? Astrokey44 05:03, 8 November 2005 (UTC)
Image deletion warning | Template:People with little clothing has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. |

Chaff[edit]
I based that image on page 14 of the PDF (page 10 by its internal numbering)—I don't have the chaff being deployed any earlier than it does. I don't presume to be an expert on this stuff. --Fastfission (talk) 22:16, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 06:09, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Please help replace this outdated license[edit]
Hello!
Thank you for donating images to the Wikimedia Commons. You have uploaded some images in the past with the license {{PD}}. While this was a license acceptable in the early days of Wikimedia, since January 2006, this license has been deprecated and since October 2008 no new uploads with this license was allowed.
The license on older images should be replaced with a better and more specific license/permissions and you can help by checking the images and adding {{PD-self}} if you are the author or one of the other templates that you can see in the template on the image page.
Thank you for your help. If you need help feel free to ask at Commons talk:Licensing or contact User:Zscout370.
The images we would like you to check are:

First 20 characters[edit]
Holy crap, I was just thinking about adding the exact same thing! That's why I returned to the page. But what I planned to write was already written! I saw that on Meta a couple days ago, which you also wrote I think, and then I encountered Category:Images from the Tropenmuseum which really made me want to add it. Rocket000 (talk) 10:26, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, that is a good example of the labels becoming useless. I was wondering whether to add "keeping in mind in which categories the image will be put", but that may be too complex and too variable.--Patrick (talk) 12:42, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
BTW, since you understand templates quite well, maybe you would be willing to help us with a expansion depth limit problem? Rocket000 (talk) 20:50, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
